The World Council have advised the preferred grouping of championships for 2012 which would group the World Laser 4.7 Youth Championship with the Laser Standard Junior Championship, and would welcome bids from the preferred region of South America. A decision will be made by the World Council following receipt of all Championship bids.
Any club who would like to submit a bid for a championship but is located outside of South America should contact the ILCA office before proceeding.
A successful bid would be either from a host club that could cater for both of the championships or from a group of host clubs in the same area, that could cater for both championships. The 2012 World Laser 4.7 Youth Championship and the 2012 World Laser Standard Junior World Championship could run within one week or over any number of successive weeks, with or without time in between the championships. Where a group of host clubs propose to work together, the distance between clubs will be taken into consideration as the economic and time costs involved in transporting boats between clubs may affect the maximum use of consecutive charters. The responsibility of transporting charter boats between venues lies with the host clubs and should be included in any budget calculation. Also, it is not viable for charter boats to be left for any extended period of time in between the championships.
