What is the entry fee?

The entry fee for the World Laser Radial Youth Championship 2009 is 150 GBP.

Are there any charter boats available?

A limited number of charter boats are available. Sailors who have registered an interest for charter when making their application are automatically included on the charter request list.

Charter boats will be offered to sailors with an entry, based on distance from the venue with extra consideration made for sea crossings. Charter boats will not be issued to sailors from Japan until after 2 March 2009. Charter Boats will be available from 3rd August and include hull with self-bailer and padded toe strap, spars, centreboard, rudder, mainsheet side cleats, control line deck block fitting with blocks and control line deck cleat fitting with cleats. Competitors must provide their own ropes, boom vang, mainsheet block, traveller blocks, sail, battens and tiller.

Charter boats cost 400 GBP plus a returnable 150 GBP damage deposit.

Is a charter extension available?

No, a charter extension is not available for this event.

Why do I have to complete a Parental Consent Form?

All sailors under 18 years of age are required to submit a Parental Consent Form prior to each Championship. This is a legal document which could be required in an emergency, without it the sailor could be refused treatment by the hospital. A Parental Consent Form needs to be completed even if the sailor is accompanied by a parent. Please complete all of the questions on the form, in clear handwriting, and send it to ILCA either by email or by fax to +44 (0) 117 315 0462. Download the Parental Consent Form.

Will I get a place?

Hopefully. The first step towards getting a place is to complete the Application Form and pay the 20 GBP Application Fee. You will then need to be ranked by your National Laser Class, following qualifications, before places can be offered. Places are offered according to Allocations for each country. To see the Allocations for this event, please click the Allocations link, which is on the top left of this page.

If you do not get an initial allocation you could still get an extra place. You can track your progress on the Application List. If you are offered a place the place offer will be sent by email.

How do I enter the event?

Firstly, complete the Application Form and pay the 20 GBP application fee. You will then need to be ranked by your National Laser Class, following qualifications, before places can be offered. When and how do I get a refund of the application fee?

The full application fee will be refunded to your credit card if:

a. your application is refused by your National Laser Association,

b. your application is cancelled by you via the ILCA web site before your application is ranked by your National Laser Association,

c. your application is automatically added to the waiting list and cancelled by you via the ILCA web site within 2 weeks of being added to the waiting list, or

d. you are not offered a place.

In all instances above you will receive an automatic email confirming the refund within 24 hours. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please contact the ILCA office immediately, otherwise you may lose your application fee.

What is my entry status?

Your entry status shows what stage your application is at so that you can track your progress. You can view your status on the Application List. To see a full explanation please refer to the Application Status Explanation. If your application status is not what you would expect please contact ILCA.

How can I subscribe or unsubscribe to the Automatic Entry system?

The Automatic Entry system gives you the option of automatically accepting a place offer if a place becomes available for you. By ticking the box on the application form, the ILCA entry system will automatically enter you into the championship if a place becomes available for you. This service is intended to help you accept an entry offer if you are sure that you will be able to attend the championship and if you think you may be unable to check your email or the ILCA web site at least every two weeks.

By using the Automatic Entry system you agree to GUARANTEE to pay the entry fee for the championship even if you later cannot attend. If you are offered a place which is automatically accepted you will have ONE MONTH to complete payment. You will be sent instructions by email on how to make payment. If you have any problems or queries regarding payment contact the ILCA office immediately. If you do not make payment for your entry within one month your entry will be cancelled and you will NOT be able to enter any future ILCA championships until the outstanding entry fee has been paid.

Why do I need to verify my email address?

All email addresses now require verification. This is to ensure that you have entered a valid email address and to make sure that you can receive a place offer email, should one become available for you. If you have not previously verified your email with the ILCA entry system you will receive an email after completing the application form. Please follow the instructions in the email to verify your email address. If you do not receive the verification email please contact the ILCA office immediately.

I haven't received a place offer email, what should I do?

Place offer emails are sent to the email address given on the application form and are copied to your District Officer. If you have not received a place offer email and your status is 'Place offered' on the Application List please contact ILCA as soon as possible. Please note - it is your responsibility to check the status of your entry, ILCA will not be able to extend the deadline if place offer emails have not been received.

I have a place offer email, what do I do next?

You now have to complete entry and payment before your entry is confirmed. Just click on the 'Complete entry and make payment now' link and follow the instructions in the place offer email to complete entry and make payment. If you are unable to attend please follow the 'Decline your entry offer now' link from the place offer email to decline your place and allow ILCA to offer it to another sailor from your country.

I have entered the event but am now unable to attend, will I get a refund?

This depends on the date of your cancellation. Please check the Notice of Race to see the full ILCA refund terms and email ILCA as soon as possible so that they can cancel your place. Please note, ILCA are only able to refund as stated in the Notice of Race

Is credit card the only method of payment?

Yes. Due to the high number of entries we process, ILCA can only accept entries registered and paid for by credit card, using the online entry system.

How can I confirm if my entry payment was successful?

As soon as you have made entry and paid by credit card your name should appear on the Entry List. If your name doesn't appear your entry has not been successful. If you think there may have been a problem with your entry please contact ILCA.

My name / sail number is incorrect on the entry list. How can I change this?

Please email ILCA as soon as possible stating the Championship name, your entry number and details of the correction required.

How can I get a receipt for my entry fee?

When you confirm your entry and make payment you will be asked to give your credit card details, if your payment is successful you will be taken to a confirmation page. On this page there is a link to download a pdf receipt. This is an official receipt and is stamped and signed by ILCA. You can print or save it as required. If you have any problems with this please contact ILCA.

I need to get a visa to be able to attend. Can ILCA help with this?

Yes. You are responsible for obtaining your own visa but ILCA can provide sailors with an 'Invitation to Compete', if necessary. Please contact ILCA, once you have made entry, to request an invitation stating the Championship name, your entry number and the names of any attendees.

Do all sailors have to be a member of ILCA?

To sail in this Championship you need to be a member of the Laser Class in your home country, where you usually sail. Your Country will check this before ranking your application, and may decline your application if you are not a paid up member of the Laser Class.
