Mon 3rd August 2009 - Mon 10th August 2009
JAPAN, Karatsu
The World Laser Radial Youth Championship is a restricted entry allocated championship, sailors wishing to enter must complete an application form.
Charter boats will be offered to sailors with an entry, based on distance from the venue with extra consideration made for sea crossings. Charter boats will not be issued to sailors from Japan until after 2 March 2009. Charter Boats will be available from 3rd August and include hull with self-bailer and padded toe strap, spars, centreboard, rudder, mainsheet side cleats, control line deck block fitting with blocks and control line deck cleat fitting with cleats. Competitors must provide their own ropes, boom vang, mainsheet block, traveller blocks, sail, battens and tiller.
Charter boats cost £400 (GBP) plus a returnable £150 (GBP) damage deposit.
For this event, charter boats will be allocated to each competitor by a ballot. If a replacement boat/part is required during the regatta the replacement boat/part will also be assigned to the competitor from the available boats/parts by ballot. All charter boats have been built by Performance Sailcraft Japan (PSJ) and PSJ is chartering the boats to the competitors.
The boats used at the Women’s Worlds will be re-chartered for this event. Any damage will be repaired and defective parts will be replaced by PSJ before they are re-chartered. However, the number of charter boats available from the Women’s World is not sufficient for the demand from the Men and Youth. Therefore PSJ has additionally secured a certain number of privately owned boats. All private boats have also been inspected by the builder and where necessary equipment has been replaced. PSJ will replace the top and lower masts of these boats with masts that have only been used once at the Laser Standard Men’s World Championship 2007.
Correction to the Notice of Race
A small error in the original Notice of Race about prizes for under 17 competitors has been corrected. The new version of the Notice of Race is available in the links to the left.
