Chloe Martin extends her lead in the Girl's fleet

Filip Matika takes the lead from Yuri Hummel in the Boy's fleet

2 races were sailed for each of the fleets today.

In the Laser Radial Boys Gold fleet Yuri Hummel dropped to 4th place overall following a disappointing 18th and 23rd places today. Filip Matika takes the overall lead with an 8th and a 13th today. There are only 9 points separating the top 5 sailors, so there is all play for on the final day of racing.

In the Laser Radial Girl's fleet Chloe Martin (GBR) extended her lead with a 1st and a 7th today. Mathilde De Kerangat (FRA) drops to 3rd overall with a 15th and a 6th today. Sarah Gunni (DEN) takes 2nd place overall.

Wed 30th July 2008 - Day 5

Yuri Hummel maintains his overall lead in the Boy's fleet

Chloe Martin takes the lead in the Girl's fleet

Sailors were greeted today by dry, sunny weather and great sailing conditions. 2 races were sailed for each of the fleets

In the Laser Radial Youth Boy's fleets Yuri Hummel remains at the top of the overall leader board with a 6th and a 10th today. Now that 6 races have been sailed a discard comes into play allowing Hummel to discard his 10th place. Alex Katsios (GRE) is just 3 points behind in 2nd place overall now that he can discard a BFD from race 4. Katsios scored a 5th and a 2nd in today's racing. Race 8 winner Nik Pletikos (SLO) moves up to 5th place overall.

In the Laser Radial Girl's fleet yesterday's leader, Mathilde De Kerangat (FRA), drops down to 2nd place overall with a 9th and 3rd today. Chloe Martin (GBR) takes the overall lead following a 2nd and a 7th today.

Tues 29th July 2008 - Day 4

Two races sailed in 20 knots

After yesterday's lack of wind sailors were greeted today with sunshine and 20 knot winds. Racing commenced on time with 2 races successfully held for each of the fleets.

In the Laser Radial Youth Boy's fleets Stefano Mazzaferro (BRA) won races 3 and 4 and climbs to 34th overall, after a black flag in race 1 of the regatta. On the overall leader board Yuri Hummel is first with 10 points, following a 2nd and a 4th today.

In the Laser Radial Girl's fleet Mathilde De Kerangat (FRA) remains at the top of the leader board after scoring a 9th and a 2nd today. Chloe Martin (GBR) scored a bullet in race 3 and a 12th in race 4 and remains in 2nd place overall.

No racing due to lack of wind in Douarnenez

Racing was due to commence at 14:00 but was postponed and finally cancelled at 15:30 due to lack of wind.

Sun 27th July 2008 - Day 2

Racing begins in Douarnenez

The first day of racing got underway in the European Laser Radial Youth Championship today. The first boats got on the water at 12:00 with racing starting at 14:00.

In the boys blue fleet, Yuri Hummel (NED) won the first race, with reining World Laser 4.7 Champion Filip Matika (CRO) in 2nd. In the yellow fleet Aiden McLaverty won race 1 with Lauri Kalkkinen in 2nd. Boris Bignoli (ITA) won race 1 in the red fleet but was unlucky in race 2 with an 18th place. Alexios Katsios (GRE), Guillaume Girod (SUI) and Christian Vitulano (ITA) all won their fleets in Race 2.

In the girls fleet, Sarah Gunni (DEN) started well, winning the first race. She scored a 4th in race 2, keeping her a the top of the leaderboard overnight on 5 points. She is closely followed by Chloe Martin (GBR) and Mathilde De Kerangat (FRA), both on 6 points overall.

The European Laser Radial Youth Championship began today with a practise race followed by the opening ceremony. At the ceremony, the town of Douarnenez offered a welcome present to the youngest sailor from each country.
