Shifting winds, thunder and a lot of protest over the results from yesterday delayed the take off from the harbour in the morning. It wasn't until 17:00 that the first dinghy had left the harbour. In the end all fleets completed 1 race.
The boys were assigned to final-series fleets on the basis of their qualifying-series scores. Katsios Alexios from Greece claimed the race win, followed by Toma Visic (CRO) in second place and and Italian Christiano Vitulano in third place.
In the girls fleet, the last start called for a high number of false starts. Approximately 13 girls received a black flag penalty before the principal race officer had the fleet well underway.
German's Svenja Stein came first and was followed in 2nd place by Annina Takala from Finland. Third place went to Sarah Butterfield from Great Britain.

However with the first discard now coming into play he is able to discard his 41st and so currently tops the leader board with 10 points. Filip Kobielski from Poland had a fantastic day, scoring a second place in race 3 and two bullets in race 4 and 5, which puts him in second place with 14 points. Sharhar Jacob (ISR) moved from the top of the leader board into third position overall with 14 also.
In the girls fleet, US sailors are dominating the top ranks. Emily Billing climbed to the top of the leader board after claiming the race win in race 5 and discarding her 30th place from the previous race. Fellow American Claire Dennis takes 2nd place overall after coming 3rd in the last race of the day; she is followed in third place overall by Finnish sailor Annina Takala who had a very good day with a 2nd, 4th and 4th place finish.

No racing due to lack of wind in Charlottenlund

It was a long hot day in Charlottenlund and despite hoping the wind did not pick up and racing had to be abandoned. The young sailors were not disheartened and enjoyed themselves nevertheless.

Fri 3rd July 2009

Racing begins in Charlottenlund

Racing got underway today in sunny conditions with winds up to 6 knots. Both the boys and girls fleets completed two races. Israeli sailor Shahar Jacob, 2008 World Champion in the Laser 4.7 class, had a very good start to the regatta, with a 1st and 4th place in his fleet, which places him at the top of the leader board. Third place is currently held by Brazilian Stefano Mazzafero after he followed his 6th place finish with a 1st place in race two.
The girls fleet saw very mixed results after two completed races. Lithuanian sailor Viktorija Andrulyte won the first race, followed by Israeli Souffa Ben-horin in second place and fellow Lithuanian Saima Plerpaite in third place. In the second race, however, Anrulyte fell back to finish in 41st place, which saw her shooting from 1st to 15th place on the leader board.
