2009 Laser World Championships

The Venue

Located on the Eastern shores of the bay St. Margaret Sailing Club boasts a large beach shoreline and thousands of square feet of open grass space. Located at the center of it all, the 4,000 foot clubhouse looks out onto the water and will serve as the central headquarters for the event.

The Conditions

The pristine bay consists of approximately 5x7 miles of unobstructed, clear Atlantic waters. The racing area is free of shoals, commercial traffic, and currents. It is aligned with the prevailing southwest winds and generates a 15-25 knot breeze on sunny days, often with large ocean swell.

Welcome to the 2009 Laser Worlds!

On behalf of the organizing committee for the 2009 Laser World Championships, welcome to our official event website!

The event is now less than a year away and we are working hard at ensuring this will be a memorable regatta for everyone involved, and for many years to come. We are excited to welcome sailors from around the world to experience all that we have to offer. St Margaret's Bay is known for its beautiful and consistent sailing conditions, ideally suited for large sailing events, such as the Laser Worlds. In addition to our water, the local region is excited to host the hundreds of competitors and visitors, and are eager to show off the regions rich heritage and culture. Whether you are interested in the province's beautiful scenery, maritime history, or nightlife - we have plenty for everybody!

With the event quickly developing, please remember to check this website frequently. We will soon be releasing more accommodations and regional information.

In the mean time if you have any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to let us know.

See you in 2009!
